Each program in this series features a guest speaker sharing unique—often niche—stories and expertise, offering fresh perspectives on history and its lasting impact.
On April 21, we’re pleased to welcome Jessica Whitehead, Director of the Central State Hospital Museum. Through powerful photography and historical insight, she will explore the history of mental health treatment and the legacy of Central State Hospital—once the largest mental institution in the world. This presentation draws from the work of an award-winning photographer, historian, and author, bringing attention to the haunting beauty and complex past of the hospital’s now-decaying buildings.
