Betty Gene Sanders Snyder, a pioneer of the arts and history preservation, lived a life of service and dedication to her community. She was born on October 21, 1930, and passed away on December 13, 2018, leaving behind a legacy of artistic and cultural contributions. Betty was a student of life, and her career path led her to become an artist, historian, administrator, writer, teacher, coach, and speaker. Her passion for preserving history, both of architecture and people's legacies, was unparalleled. Betty was a dynamic member of multiple arts organizations and served as the visionary executive director of Allied Arts for 18 years. She was a firepower in the restoration of the John Marlor House and Allen's Market, both that house Allied Arts events today. Betty's life of service was emblazoned with her servant heart - and fueled by her fiery spirit and sharp wit. She was awarded Georgia Governor's Awards in both the Arts and the Humanities and was honored by Georgia College with multiple alumni and service awards.
