*About the Artist*
Betty George “BeeGee” Clark Baugh was born in Thomasville, GA on September 13th, 1929. She graduated from Ochlocknee High School and attended the Georgia State College for Women from 1946 – 1950 where she graduated with a BA in Art Education. In 1950, she married James Emory Baugh.
BeeGee taught art at the Georgia State College for Women and then for 12 years at Baldwin High School. In 1968, BeeGee along with Betty Snyder, Jane Headley, and Dorrie Neligan formed “The Paint Pot”, where they would paint and teach art to children and adults in our community. She was also one of the founders of the Milledgeville Art Association, which would later become Allied Arts.
BeeGee has also been a huge part of many other things in Milledgeville. She participated in Milledgeville Little Theater, where she made costumes. She was also a Girl Scout leader, Colonial Dame of America member (town chair for 2-year term), has acted as Advisor for House Corporation for Alpha Delta Pi, helped to start the Old Capitol Museum, and has also played a huge part in encouraging the students at Georgia Military College to take part in Creative Arts and other academic areas.
