Cartooning with Mr. Ollie June 4 - 8

Session I: Ages: 6 - 9

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Cost: $70.

This camp is designed to encourage children to be creative, not only in drawing humorous illustrations, but to think as well. The students create their own cartoons (this is not drawing already famous characters.) Mr. Ollie has done daily comic strips, editorial cartoons, humorous illustrations for advertising agencies and magazines. Students are sure to enjoy this camp. Supplies are included in the registration fee.

Humorous Illustrations with Mr. Ollie

Session II: Ages: 10 & up Time: 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. Cost: $70.

During this camp students will learn the professional techniques used in creating cartoons and humorous illustrations. Using basic drawing fundamentals as well as color blending and compositition, students learn how to come up with gag cartoon ideas and various pen techniques.

Drawing and Painting with Jim Gensheer June 18 - 22

Session I: Ages: 6 - 9 Time: 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Cost: $77.

Children and Young adult summer art camp focuses on developing drawing and painting skills. The first part of the week will be devoted to increasing the students' drawing skills, and how they look at the world around them. Jim says that he actually teaches his students ‘how to see’ and develop eye/hand coordination. The remaining part of the week will focus on painting in watercolor, and the various techniques used in creating great works of art. Students will be provided with materials.

Session II Ages: 10 & up Time: 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Cost: $77.

The students will draw daily, learning how to coordinate their eye-hand movements along with the principles of 2-dimensional art. Through journal sketching and painting, the students will sharpen their knowledge of line, size, shape, color, value and text to record their thoughts and observations from fantasy to reality. Students will be provided with materials.

Tiny ACT with Ruby Werts

June 11 - 15

Session I: Time: 10:30am - Noon  Ages: 3 - 4 Cost: $20.

Session II: Time: 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm Ages: pre K - 6years

Cost: $20.

Young children will have the opportunity to experience acting, moving, singing, dancing and playing instruments. This camp will expose young children to fun and games, using ribbon sticks, scarves, costumes and lots of movement games.

Theatre Sampler with Ms. Ruby

June 25 -29

Session I

Time: 8:30 a.m. - Noon Ages: 6 - 10 Cost: $73.

A fun filled week of theatre games, stage combat, improvisations and humorous skits under the direction of Ruby Werts. Students will learn theatre skills & skits, monologues, theatre games and improvisations and develop them into a full scale production. This camp will conclude with a staged production on Friday, June 29.

Session II Time: 1 - 5 p.m. Ages:10 & up Cost: $73.

A fun filled week focusing on Americana and Patriotic skits under the direction of Ruby Werts. Students will develop theatre skits, monologues, learn theatre games and improvisational skills and turn them into a full scale, end of the week, theatrical production for friends and family. This camp will conclude with a staged production on Friday, June 29.

Sculptural Puppets with Rudy Mendes

July 9 - 13

 

Session I: Ages: 6 - 9  Time: 9:00 a.m. - noon Cost: $70.

Session II : Ages: 10 & up  Time: 1:00 p.m. - 4 p.m. Cost: $70.

Make your stories come alive with sculptural puppets. Students will craft different kinds of sculptural puppets such as finger puppets, marianettes, and shadow puppets using recycled materials. There will be a short performance for friends and family. So bring your imagination and learn about this exciting art form.

Parent/Adult & Child Pin hole Photography Workshop Mon-Thurs July 16-19

Time: 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Cost: $85. (1 adult & 1 child)

Share a camp with your young one! This camp is designed for parent/adult and children to learn about the wonders of pin hole photography together. No previous photographic experience needed. Learn how to take a photograph and develop black and white negative and prints in the dark room. All supplies and darkrooms are provided.

Greeting Card Workshop

June 12 & 14 (Tues & Thurs)

Time: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Cost: $45. Friends of Allied Arts members: $25.

Design and print your own original greeting cards and envelopes. Each person will design and print six different cards and envelopes during this workshop. Using water based printers inks in a variety of different colors and a printing press each card and envelope will be your unique design. Bring a sandwich and a drink for a short lunch break. For the more ambitious student, studio time and additional cards and envelopes will be available.

Painting with Jim Gensheer

June 18 - 21 Dates: Mon - Thurs, June 18-21 Time: 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm  Cost: $80.

Watercolor is perceived as one of the most difficult mediums to learn - Jim’s approach makes it understandable. From the beginner to the advanced student, Jim will provide a creative learning experience for all. During the week you will paint landscapes including low-country or lighthouses; flowers using gradation, splatter, salt and many other methods to create those paintings hidden in all of us! Supply list will be provided.

Pin hole Photography    

July 23 - 26  Time: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Cost: $75.

Design and and build your own pin hole camera using a variety of materials readily available and start taking great black and white photographs with unlimited depth of field. No previous photographic experience needed. Learn some tips and tricks that will enable you to turn an oatmeal can, or an old camera into a pin hole camera. Learn how to take a photograph and develop black and white negatives and prints and in the dark room. All supplies and darkrooms are provided.

Miniature Painting with Terry Smith

Dates: Saturday, July 14 Time: 9 am - 4 pm Cost: $75.

Terry has been painting miniature paintings of portraits, landscapes and other subjects since 2000. His paintings range in size from 1.25 inches to five inches and have earned him awards from the Miniature Art Society of Florida. Terry will lead you from start to finish through your painting and show you valuable techniques to achieve a perfect miniature. Supply list will be provided.

Wildlife Painting with Terry Smith

Dates: Sunday, July 15 Time: 9 am - 4 pm Cost: $75.

Have you ever wanted to paint a wild animal? Learn how to paint realistic animal eyes, fur and feathers with nationally known Florida Artist Terry Smith. Terry will lead you from start to finish through your watercolor painting and show you valuable techniques to achieve realistic paintings. Supply list will be provided.
